Atlas Copco: exploring a factory in 360°

Atlas Copco: exploring a factory in 360°
Summarize this case with:

Understanding a factory starts with looking around

A factory is difficult to capture in a handful of photographs. Production lines, goods flows and workspaces form an environment that makes more sense when you see it in its spatial context. For Atlas Copco, Poppr created a virtual factory tour that opens up the Wilrijk site to visitors exploring from a distance.

The Digital Factory Tour connects 360° views into an interactive visit. Visitors look around, choose their next location and discover different parts of the factory. An industrial environment becomes a place they can recognise and explore beyond its physical walls. The experience opens directly in a web browser.

From goods receiving to the production line

The tour begins with an overview of the site. Visitors can then take a closer look at the working environment, from goods receiving and inspection to logistics, materials preparation and production. Each location offers a different perspective, with visitors controlling where they look.

The virtual tour includes:

  • Goods receiving, incoming inspection, incoming goods and logistics.
  • Kitting and sequencing areas, where components are prepared and organised.
  • Multiple viewpoints along the GA 55-90 production line.
  • Vacuum production and the NGP and VSD production lines.
  • The vacuum testing and packing area, as well as office spaces.

Clickable transitions connect different viewpoints. The images become more than separate photographs: visitors can explore a workspace from different positions and see where the next location sits. Moving between broad views and closer perspectives reveals the scale and layout of the site.

A shared view for conversations at a distance

The result is an online factory visit that lets people direct their own attention. They can pause at a production line, return to an earlier viewpoint or explore another part of the site. That freedom suits an industrial environment where different visitors arrive with different questions.

For industrial businesses, a virtual tour can support conversations with customers, partners or prospective colleagues. Rather than relying entirely on a verbal explanation, people can look at the relevant location together. Preparing for a visit in person or explaining a factory during an online presentation are natural uses for this shared visual context.

This case shows how Poppr turns existing spaces into a digital experience, using recognisable imagery, clear navigation and attention to the relationship between logistics and production. The setting itself becomes part of the explanation.

Bring your industrial environment into view

Want to introduce customers, partners or candidates to your factory? Start with what they need to understand and which locations will help them understand it. Poppr helps you shape that journey into a virtual tour built around your audience.
