    • 1. Push the rear header up and back.
    • 2. Unlock the mechanism by pulling the cable down.
    • 3. Pull the roof to the front by using the green loop on the side of the roof.
    • 4. The roof can now fully go to the front.

    Lifting Roof

    • CHECK VIDEO

    Lifting the Roof

    • All our Mega trailers are equipped with a lifting roof. By lifting the roof, the trailer can be loaded or unloaded more easily.
    • Most of our trailers are equipped with a roof lifting system at the 4 corner posts.

    Attention:

    • For all trailer series, it is required to first check if all buckles are disconnected before lifting the roof.
    • Remove the curtain bar at the front and back from the locking mechanism by lifting the handle by approximately 3 cm.
    • Make sure the rear doors or rear curtain flap are loosened as explained.

    Rear Doors

Opening and Closing the Rear Doors

    • For the strength of the trailer, load safety and securing it is really important that the doors are properly closed.
    • Every door has 2 locks on the top and on the bottom. All these 4 have to be closed properly.
    • When this is not the case, always check first if the lifting roof mechanism is closed as it should be.

    COLAS Valve & Handbreak

Operating the Raise and Lower Valve

    • CHECK VIDEO

    Operating the Handbrake

    • Attention: Before driving, always check if the handbrake button is pushed in and the breaks are “free”.

    Airbags

    Attention:

    • In the driving position, the space between the airbags and the trailing arm should be approximately 4cm.

    Rear Landing Legs

    Operating the Rear Landing Legs

    • All Mega trailer are equipped with a lifting/ lowering system. This system is necessary for lifting the trailer at a load dock and securing the trailer with the rear landing legs.
    • When unlocking the handle, make sure to retain the landing leg with your other hand to stop it from falling uncontrolledly. Now, the landing leg can be easily dropped into the central position and be locked again.
    • Always, make sure the landing legs swivel range is free from any obstacles! By using the COLAS valve, the trailer can be leveled with the loading ramp and locked onto the landing legs.

    Attention:

    • Only operate the landing legs when they are BOTH in their vertical position! NEVER operate them when horizontal!

    Front Landing Legs

    Operating the Front Lading Legs

    • During coupling , an extra check is required of the fixation of the dolly wheels on the front landing legs.
    • Because of the maximum height of the trailers at the LorryRail, these dolly wheels are taken off to lower the trailer.
    • Check the presence of these wheels and check if they are mounted in the right way with an “R” clip or safely mounted split pin. When the wheels are not mounted in the right way, there is a risk of losing them on the road which is highly dangerous.

    Fixed Straps

    Using Fixed Straps

    • CHECK VIDEO

Follow the instructions below before the trailer gets loaded to optimize this system without ‘throwing’ the straps over the load.

    • 1. Lift a strap into the ‘fingers’ on both sides of the roof by using for example the curtain bar.
    • 2. Now, the load can be placed into the trailer.
    • 3. Tighten the strap with the ratchet and the strap will automatically fall out of the ‘fingers’ and around the load.

    Dropping empty Trailers

    • CHECK VIDEO

  • Before dropping an empty trailer at a customer’s or parking lot, there is a standard which has to be followed by every driver and which is appreciated by all customers and colleges.
    • Roll up span sets, on the right side the straps against the curtain and the ratchets on the left.
    • No pallets or other packaging material on the floor.
    • Trailer has to be clean from the inside. Wipe it out if necessary.

    Registration Papers

    • The registration and loading certificate papers are mounted onto the chassis between the axles and the landing legs.
    • In case of questions from customers or police about registration, insurance or loading certificates, always contact Fleetcontrol immediately.

    Headboard & Couplings

    Remaining Loading Meters

    • Krone/CSH trailer have the loading meters printed on the inside of the roof.

    Fleetcode

    • The fleetcode provides specific information about the respective trailer. In general, these codes are specified as follows.

1st position: Owner/User/ Origin of Equipment

    • C = Ewals Cargo Care, Dutch registered
    • D = Double Deck Cargo
    • E = ELOW
    • I = Interzuid, Dutch registered
    • J = Ewals Cargo Care, (dedicated Johnson Controls)
    • M = MCV, Dutch registered
    • X = XLS System (earlier C)

2nd position: Trailer Type, Type of Equipment (T.O.E.)

    • B = box trailer
    • C = MEGA curtain sider trailer (extra strong)
    • D = 13.60m 3-axle curtain sided trailer
    • K = dedicated 13.60m box trailer
    • S = sliding roof

    3rd position: Indication important features

    • B = coil well crosswise
    • D = Double Deck
    • E = extra reinforced for loose cargo (tires, insulation material, etc.)
    • H = Huckepack
    • O = no special features
    • R = roller track in floor/ re-sized
    • S = sliding roof
    • T = TIR certified
    • V = Volvo dedicated
    • X = special modified

    Meaning of 4 digits:

    • 1st digit = year of building

    Example:

    • CSH 2533 =ECC-NL, Dutch registered, Sliding roof, Huckepack, 2012

    ILU Code & Codification Sticker

    • All Huckepack/Intermodal units have to be equipped with codification stickers on which important information about the trailer can be found. which is required for train shipments.
    • In addition to this, all units need to be equipped with an ILU codification (EWAK code) as of 1 July 2014.
    • Thus before delivering the trailer at a train terminal, always check the trailer for the presence of these stickers.

    Paper Tube

    Transport Documentation

    • Check if all transport documents are present. These can be usually found in the paper tube or in the back of the trailer.
    • When there are no documents, always contact the Planning Desk immediately and fill in a CMR according to the information you will receive from the Planning Desk.
    • When the trailer is sealed, break this seal, take the papers out and mount a new seal. Then, write the new seal number on the CMR and inform your Planning Desk about this.
