A first visit, before admission
Preparing for childbirth also means getting to know the place where it will happen. For UZ Leuven, Poppr created a virtual tour that introduces expectant parents to the delivery suite and maternity unit. From arriving at the hospital to exploring a maternity room, visitors can discover the environment at their own pace.
Getting to know the setting before admission
What does a delivery room look like? Where are patients welcomed? What is the maternity accommodation like? For expectant parents and their partners, these are practical questions about a place they may never have visited.
The virtual tour makes that setting visible in advance. UZ Leuven presents it as a resource for pregnant women and their partners preparing for the birth of their child. Visitors can explore from home and return to particular areas whenever they want another look.
An interactive tour built around the journey
Poppr connected different locations into one experience. The tour includes arrival points, the delivery suite reception, delivery rooms, an operating theatre, the recovery area and maternity rooms.
Visitors move between spaces through clickable navigation points and look around in 360°. A menu and timeline provide access to the different sections. They can follow the journey or go directly to a room they want to explore.
Information connected to what people see
Interactive information points add explanations within the environment itself. A room becomes a starting point for learning more about how the department works.
UZ Leuven makes the tour available through its own website, alongside information for expectant parents. The experience brings visual exploration and useful context together within the hospital’s existing patient communication. The tour itself is in Dutch.
A practical purpose for healthcare virtual tours
This project demonstrates a clear use for immersive experiences in healthcare: helping people become familiar with a setting before they arrive.
At Poppr, that starts with the visitor’s questions. Which places do people want to see? What needs explanation? Which sequence makes the experience easy to understand? Those questions shape the tour.
